Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
My puppies are born and raised in a family home. I believe in raising them as I would one of my own puppies that I would keep, so they get used to the noises (ie vacuum cleaner) and life of a normal household. They are cuddled and socialised from an early age. We also bath the Puppies so they get used to having…
Health
The Mother of the Puppies have a health check whilst she is pregnant and the Puppies get checked and DNA tested at four weeks old. If there are health issues they go to the vet sooner. They are all vaccinated and wormed.
Home environment
The Puppies grow up in a family home with older children, on a half acre property with other animals. They have a pen inside the house and outside to keep them safe whilst they are little.
Included with our puppies
All Puppies are DNA tested. They will have their first vaccination including tetanus at the age of 6 weeks and will be microchipped. 30 days free pet insurance with Trupanion. They will go to their new homes with a puppy pack which includes a blanket, toy, info book and 3.5kg Black Hawk biscuits.

Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS) is a genetic disease that causes affected dogs to compulsively lick, overgroom and bite their paws. This can cause recurrent injuries and infections. The condition can be extreme and even result in the dog being euthanised if the signs cannot be controlled.
Genetic Test
This is a rare genetic disease affecting Cocker Spaniels. It can cause wobbliness and incoordination in the hindlimbs, with eventual progression to paralysis and difficulty breathing. It usually only affects older dogs and progression is slow over several years. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Bernard-Soulier Syndrome (BSS) is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by abnormally large platelets in low numbers, meaning an affected animal cannot form clots properly after tissue damage. It can lead to life-threatening bleeding issues following surgery or injury. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) is a genetic condition mainly affecting Retrievers and Spaniels. It results in the dog collapsing after periods of intense exercise, even if they are normally able to cope with lower levels of exercise. There is a DNA test available which can indicate if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Canine Phosphofructokinase (PFK) Deficiency is a genetic disease resulting in low levels of the PFK enzyme. It can result in extreme muscle fatigue, muscle cramping and severe anaemia. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
