Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
We bring our puppies up inside our home where they are exposed to all different noises and surfaces. Touched and held daily kissed and cuddled. 3 to 4 weeks inside play exposed to smells noises from appliances and loud bangs to make them relaxed east going family pets. Agility training starts with "tunnel playâŚ
Health
Health is very important to me. Parents are DNA health tested and yearly heart checked and patella checked by our team of vets. Mum's are hip/elbow scored. Before puppies leave for new homes they are Vet health checked again with the new owners providing them a written "fit for sale certificate". Health is a topâŚ
Home environment
Our home environment is bringing up our puppies in our bedroom. We have been breeding decades and find having puppies in where we sleep is easier. Once they are 2 weeks of age they will be moved into the nursery this is a bigger area for them and mum comes and goes as she pleases. Puppies have outside playâŚ

Additional Tests
Goulburn Golden Cavaliers conducts 3 additional tests available for the Golden Cavalier.
Physical Test
These breeders have had x-rays taken on their breeding dogs to assess the quality of their elbow joints. Dogs with very low âelbow scoresâ are less likely to develop elbow problems in the future and less likely to pass hereditary elbow problems on to their puppies.
Genetic Test
This is a serious genetic skin disease that causes flaky dry skin and footpad problems. It can occur in many breeds but is fairly common in Golden Retrievers. There is a DNA test to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease and could pass it on to their puppies.
Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.

About the Breeder
A little about us
I always loved Dogs my entire life. I wanted to be a vet when I was young. I started reading literature and did work experience at our local clinic. I studied to be a vet nurse and decided it wasn't for me after a very hard day at the clinic.
Why we got involved in breeding
General love of dogs really and to provide people with a beautiful family member they could share their life with.
Our special touch
I really think doing things properly the way things should be done, making sure all puppies are thriving and recognising behaviours and differences between our puppies that helps them become better members of the family. Our puppies are fully vetted and we don't let them go to new homes if we are not 100% happy. âŚ
