Genetic TestHyperuricosuria (HUU) is a genetic disease that causes a build-up of uric acid in the urine, predisposing to painful bladder and kidney stones. It can occur in a range of breeds. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

Retinopathy is disease of the retina, at the back of the eye. It can result in deterioration of eyesight or even blindness. A specific type of retinopathy has been identified in Swedish Vallhunds, which is similar to Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) that occurs in many breeds. There is a now a genetic test to identify whether a dog is carrying the gene related to this retinopathy.

Why we got involved in breeding
Vallhunds are an ancient and primitive, hardy, intelligent and highly trainable breed that presents very few genetic concerns. I breed with the goal of reducing emotional and financial burdens for new puppy owners. I do this by selecting breeding dogs that are less likely to produce puppies with congenital concerns.
Our special touch
Odindisa breeds to uphold the Breed Standard, including breeding to size, with correct low-maintenance coat. My dogs also pursue the traditional purposes of their breed, with Uffi eagerly embracing Bale Hunt and Obedience.
