Hi, I'm Katarina M.

Daminabul Bull Terrier Miniatures is a small Canberra based kennel breeding for health and conformation to the ANKC breed standard. Our Breeding Practices

Behaviour and socialisation

We conduct noise desensitisation training, with loud noises like vacuuming or music. We also take all puppies to socialisation classes, run by Dogs ACT in Canberra. This is generally when they are between eight to twelve weeks. We also can assist with show training, for those who are interested in taking their dogs…

Health

We conduct all the important genetic health tests required for our breed, including Primary Lens Luxation and Lethal Acrodermatitis. We also conduct the necessary physical tests, including checking patellars, hearts, and (where necessary) BAER-testing our puppies for congenital deafness. We also check for any signs…

Home environment

All our pups are raised in the lounge room, where we set up the whelping box. We sleep right beside them for the first three weeks, until they're close to weaning on their own. We then transfer them into our large sunroom, where we have four pens as well as a large play/toilet area, and crates to sleep in. Our adult…

Included with our puppies

We provide a Puppy Pack, which include Puppy Pee pads, a special Kong ball (as their heads change so much, it's good for teething), lead, collar, first shampoo and conditioner, and fluffy toys. I also provide a 50-page info book, which includes important information including the history of the breed, do's/don'ts of…

Additional Tests

Daminabul Bull Terrier Miniatures conducts 5 additional tests available for the Miniature Bull Terrier.

Inherited deafness is common in specific breeds such as Dalmatians and Bull Terriers. Merle coat patterns and white coat colour can also be linked to deafness. It is recommended breeders of at-risk breeds or coat colours have the puppies checked with a Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) test at around 6 weeks old, before they go to new homes.

stethoscope iconPhysical Test

A heart certificate indicates that a breeding dog has been screened for heart disease such as DCM or MMVD. Auscultation alone is only accepted as a screening method if performed by a veterinary cardiologist or a GP vet certifying an OFA Basic Cardiac Screen. Echocardiography is an accepted screening method via GP or cardiologist.

dna iconGenetic Test

Lethal Acrodermatitis (LAD) is a serious genetic disease that can affect Bull Terriers and Miniature Bull Terriers. It causes severe skin lesions as well as immune system compromise, causing affected puppies to develop painful lesions on their face and feet which become easily infected. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

dna iconGenetic Test

Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) is a genetic cause of blindness found in dogs, particularly affecting terrier breeds. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

stethoscope iconPhysical Test

Dogs affected by patellar luxation have loose kneecaps that may pop in and out of the knee joint, which can be painful and even require surgery. Having a vet examine breeding dogs for patellar luxation can confirm the dog is not affected, and that their puppies are less likely to develop the condition. Patellar luxation is more common in smaller breeds.

About the Breeder

A little about us

I'm Katarina from Daminabull Bull Terrier Miniatures! We welcome all lovers and potential owners of this beautiful breed, and want to convey the enormous joy these dogs can bring to the world. And we hope that you find your forever family member at Daminabul.

Why we got involved in breeding

My husband has always had Bull Terriers, he lost his last one just before we got together. It was a while before we got another, and a puppy came up online (we had been following the pup's father closely). We enquired, went through the breeding questions, and secured our puppy Opie! We initially started going to a…

Our special touch

For being only six years into the showing world, I'm proud of what we've achieved in the little time that what we've started showing. Our proudest moment was going to a show a couple of years ago in Canberra where 185 terriers entered; and our Opie was runner-up Best in Show.
