Newborn litter
Hi, I'm Caroline A.
We are a small, exclusive Finnish Lapphund breeder based in NSW near Canberra. Our passion (obsession) with the breed started several years ago, and most of spare time centres around our dogs. Our focus will always remain on breeding for quality and never quantity - we want to be able to provide each puppy…

Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our puppies are raised in the home, with gradual, age appropriate exposure to the garden area when appropriate. Our puppies are introduced to Early Neurological Stimulation and are raised with gold standard Puppy Culture protocols. We are in a peaceful suburban area just over the NSW border of Canberra, and…
Health
Our health testing includes hip and elbow X-rays, DNA testing, heart (echocardiogram) testing, and eye testing before breeding. Our dogs have also had additional temperament testing completed by vets and dog trainers in order to become a certified therapy dogs. All our puppies will be vaccinated, microchipped with…
Home environment
Puppies are raised in a single story house with a garden and lawn, in a suburban area.
Included with our puppies
A comprehensive puppy pack is provided with each puppy including breed information, health information of parents, registration details and pedigree, vaccination and health records, some toys and bedding that will smell like their mother and siblings, some basic grooming supplies, a blanket, and a bag of puppy food. …

Additional Tests
Aamurusko Finnish Lapphunds conducts 3 additional tests available for the Finnish Lapphund.
Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Physical Test
These breeders have had x-rays taken on their breeding dogs to assess the quality of their elbow joints. Dogs with very low ‘elbow scores’ are less likely to develop elbow problems in the future and less likely to pass hereditary elbow problems on to their puppies.
Genetic Test
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a type of genetic eye disease causing deterioration of the retina and eventually, blindness. There are a variety of sub-types of PRA, which can occur in various breeds. There are various DNA tests available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

About the Breeder
A little about us
Aamurusko Finnish Lapphunds are located in the peaceful suburbs of Canberra. I fell in love with the breed several years ago, and finally welcomed my first “Lappie” Loki four years ago. I soon became obsessed with the breed and welcomed a second, Salla. I am active in conformation showing, dog sports, and therapy…
Why we got involved in breeding
Becoming a breeder has been a long-term goal and seemed like the natural progression of my Lappie obsession. They are an amazing breed - smart, gentle, loving, athletic and beautiful.
Our special touch
My dogs are cherished family members and as such, in order to provide each of them with the attention and quality of life they deserve, I will be keeping my numbers small and will breed sparingly, only when the timing is right, and to puppy families who I know can provide a safe, loving and caring forever home.
