Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Puppies are raised in my home, in my family room in accordance with Puppy Culture protocols and will be exposed to loud noises and music, as well as the sounds of everyday domesticity. They will be socialised with humans of all ages and our other adult dogs.
Health
Puppies are checked regularly for Dermoid Sinus and will be wormed every two weeks from two weeks of age. At six weeks they will be microchipped, receive their first vaccination, and will have their DNA swab taken for the verification of parentage for the litter (as required for registration by Dogs Queensland).
Home environment
Puppies sleep in their pen in my whelping area which is in the family room. They also have access to an outside run for periods during the day where they will have soft play equipment, a swing and toys to play with.
Included with our puppies
Each puppy will go home with a puppy pack including a folder with health information of both parents, the puppy's health information and records, information on feeding and one month of complimentary pet insurance through Knose Pet Insurance.

Additional Tests
Bellsasha Rhodesian Ridgebacks conducts 2 additional tests available for the Rhodesian Ridgeback.
Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Physical Test
These breeders have had x-rays taken on their breeding dogs to assess the quality of their elbow joints. Dogs with very low ‘elbow scores’ are less likely to develop elbow problems in the future and less likely to pass hereditary elbow problems on to their puppies.

About the Breeder
A little about us
My journey with Rhodesian Ridgebacks started with a RRxGSD named Bella - a fabulous dog, so much that we didn't think we could love another as much as we loved her. When Bella was 8.5yo, we got a ridgeless RR with papers, Sasha. With a pedigree, Sasha was able to complete the Endurance Test and was a fabulous lure…
Why we got involved in breeding
I fell in love with the breed when we got Sasha and I was able to get my first show dog in 2018, Dual Ch (LC) Chilolo CHN Cool Samara ET LCX. Samara had her first litter for her breeder, then I had a litter of 2 puppies with her in 2022 and she is the mother of my current litter.
Our special touch
My dogs spend their days in my home either on the couch or on the patio sunning themselves. They get the best of everything I can give them, as well as setting boundaries. They are exercised regularly and exposed to as many new things as possible, e.g. markets, Bunnings etc. I am always complimented by members of…
