Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
We at Bogan Moodles & Spoodles are very hands on as a kennel in ensuring our Spoodle dogs are properly socialised, exposing them to most of the worlds lovely noises and environments that are associated with being raised in a home/family environment. During their first weeks of life, we interact with the puppies that…
Health
All of our breeding dogs have been full-breed DNA profiled and/or the GenoPet 5.0 test through Orivet. This ensures we are eliminate potential health problems, providing piece of mind to the owners and verifying parentage. Our record keeping is top notch and always kept to date, meaning our breeding dogs are well…
Home environment
We're very fortunate to have a self-contained double area, which has everything we need to raise the Spoodle pups in a safe environment. It's temperature controlled, has a set-up whelping area, and has all the gating and pen areas we need. The Spoodle puppies are primarily raised here, and only after their first…
Included with our puppies
All pups will be micro-chipped before leaving (I'm a licensed microchip implanter). I also put together a information pack with all the basic information, including worming, desexing, grooming, diet, and a starter pack on what to buy. We also highly recommend crate training, and include information on this. We…

Genetic Test
Canine Elliptocytosis is a rare genetic disease causing the red blood cells to be abnormally elliptical in shape, rather than round. It generally does not cause a clinical problem to affected dogs, but puppies may be mildly anaemic and smaller than others. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Congenital Macrothrombocytopenia (CM) is a mild disease which normally does not have any impact on an affected dog’s health or lifespan but can cause concern if noticed on routine bloodwork without knowing the cause. It is a blood disease resulting in low numbers of very large platelets. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) is a genetic condition mainly affecting Retrievers and Spaniels. It results in the dog collapsing after periods of intense exercise, even if they are normally able to cope with lower levels of exercise. There is a DNA test available which can indicate if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Familial Nephropathy (FN) is a genetic kidney disorder that can cause kidney failure and death in young dogs. It is also known as Autosomal Inherited Recessive Nephropathy. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Neonatal Encephalopathy (NE) is a brain disease that can occur in Standard Poodle puppies. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Canine Phosphofructokinase (PFK) Deficiency is a genetic disease resulting in low levels of the PFK enzyme. It can result in extreme muscle fatigue, muscle cramping and severe anaemia. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Von Willebrand’s Disease (VWD/vWD) is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by a lack of a specific clotting factor. There are three forms of the disease, types 1, 2 & 3. A DNA test is available for each type of VWD to identify whether a breeding dog is a carrier or might be affected. The severity of VWD varies widely between breeds and individuals, ranging from life threatening, through to having no impact on clotting ability.

Why we got involved in breeding
I joined the breeding profession when I first became a mother, I was gifted 2 little Moodles by my husband as he knew I needed companionship to help me though my new role of being a stay at home mother. I was encouraged to breed my 2 girls from family and friends as they were bestowed on the breed and the next was…
Our special touch
My daughter is our secret weapon - she's a dog and cat whisperer... Im pretty sure she talks to horses also! She takes her responsibilities and roles very seriously in the kennel, and in the pups' development. It has been rewarding to see my child grow up with dogs, and it has inspired me to support others to do the…
