Behaviour and socialisation
Every Braecrest puppy is raised in a country home environment with plenty of early socialisation — meeting people, children, sounds and experiences to set them up for life as confident, adaptable companions.
Health
All Braecrest / Tawnyoak Irish Terriers are DNA tested and cleared of Hereditary Footpad Hyperkeratosis (Irish Terrier Type) and Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 8. We are a verified Dogs NSW registered breeder (Member No. 2000639190) and Dubbo Kennel Club member.
Home environment
Pups and dogs live in our country home environment in Wirrimah, NSW.

Genetic TestHereditary Footpad Hyperkeratosis (HFH) is a genetic condition of Irish Terriers that causes thickening and hardening of their footpads, forming painful corns. There is a DNA test now available to indicate whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease. This test can be run on puppies as well.

Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.

Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) is a genetic cause of blindness found in dogs, particularly affecting terrier breeds. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

Why we got involved in breeding
Born and raised in regional NSW, Pam's connection to animals and the land has always been central to her life. She began her journey in purebred dogs in the late 1980s, initially showing in other terrier breeds before the spirit and fire of the Irish Terrier captured her heart entirely.
Our special touch
At Braecrest, Irish Terriers are first and foremost family companions. We select for true breed temperament — the spirited, brave, trainable, and deeply loyal nature that defines the breed. Our dogs live as part of our family, raised in the country at Wirrimah.
