Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS) is a genetic disease that causes affected dogs to compulsively lick, overgroom and bite their paws. This can cause recurrent injuries and infections. The condition can be extreme and even result in the dog being euthanised if the signs cannot be controlled.
Genetic Test
Bernard-Soulier Syndrome (BSS) is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by abnormally large platelets in low numbers, meaning an affected animal cannot form clots properly after tissue damage. It can lead to life-threatening bleeding issues following surgery or injury. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) is a genetic condition mainly affecting Retrievers and Spaniels. It results in the dog collapsing after periods of intense exercise, even if they are normally able to cope with lower levels of exercise. There is a DNA test available which can indicate if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

About the Breeder
A little about us
Welcome to Bro River Puppies. We have been breeding for over 15 years now. We have brought puppies up along side our 4 children and now are lucky enough to share the joy of raising puppies with our grandchildren. We raise our puppies on our 100 acre property 3hrs from Sydney, 2 hrs from Canberra and an hour from the…
Why we got involved in breeding
After growing up with dogs and working on cattle stations in WA and QLD with a strong working dog presence we naturally fell into a lifestyle raising animals. The kids always enjoyed a country lifestyle with dogs and horses so we began breeding to bring puppies into the lives of other families.
Our special touch
Our puppies are raised on our acreage property along side the chaos of family life with our grandchildren, other animals and machinery so they are well socialised and well adjusted puppies.
