Calmaceile Cairn Terriers
Raymond Terrace, NSW
Hi, I'm Amanda B.
The origins of our kennel name, Calmaceile, "Calma" means brave and "Ceile" or "Ceili" means companion. We believe "Brave Companion" is most fitting to describe a Cairn Terrier. Calmaceile Cairn Terriers is located in Port Stephens, NSW.

Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
When the puppies are old enough and their eyes open; that's when the mum is happy to come out of the whelping box, and they have water bowls and toys; something to play with, and the fun parts around getting to know their food. From about six weeks, they are doggy-door trained, paper-trained (helps with…
Health
When the pups are born, we're constantly on puppy watch, checking in to make sure they're OK, or whether we need to supplement their diet, making sure they are attaching to the teat; pull the bigger ones off to make sure the small ones get their fair share. Our girls are fed four times a day to keep up their milk…
Home environment
Our Calmaceile pups are brought up in a family environment. We have them on dry beds. We weigh them every day until they hit a kilo, then we are more relaxed and weigh accordingly. Anything can happen, so we like to keep a close eye on them. I usually keep them inside till 5 weeks old, and then we moved them down…

Each owner gets a Calmaceile booklet, which educates them on how to care for their puppy and informs them of what the pups have been eating and recipes. We also include samples of food; puppy biscuit, packet of milky sticks, which they like to eat. We provide a blanket which we try to let the litter sleep in, their…

About the Breeder
A little about us
I started in the show circuit 20 years ago, since then I have strived to breed healthy, fun loving cairns to breed temperament. I raise my puppies in a loving family environment, I have a great love an affection for the breed and have bred five cairn litters under my new prefix - Calmaceile.
Why we got involved in breeding
My family got out first Cairn Terrier, "Jack", 14 years ago. We were getting over the death of our beloved Australian Terrier, "Beau". I saw an advertisement in the paper for Cairn Terriers. I rang and enquired, our family talked about bringing a new puppy into our home and we went and checked out some photos and…
Our special touch
We love talking to our puppy families and sending them photos, it's incredibly rewarding. We've sent the dogs away to great homes.
