Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
At two weeks old pups are introduced to the animals on the farm such as cats and other breeds of dogs. They are socialised with other children, adults and are regularly handled by my family and I. By doing this puppies become more comfortable within their environment and are more friendly towards other people.…
Health
All puppies have their first vaccination before leaving for their new homes and are microchipped at 6 weeks of age. They are wormed with Drontal from 6-8 weeks and get applied with Frontline spray before being introduced to the grass to help protect them against tick & fleas. Pups are given a high quality balanced…
Home environment
Pups are born and raised on our family property of 35 acres and sleep inside a fully insulated temperature controlled cabin. During the day they are in a fully insulated raised dog kennel which is equipped with a whelping box that can be changed easily to increase the puppies space as they get older. All of our dogs…
Included with our puppies
CaviBear puppies will come with a complete guide on how to look after your Cavalier pup, DNA results of the parents and your puppy and relevant health records. All pups will come with a small starter pack of the food they have been eating, a blanket of their litter mates and mothers scent and puppy pads.
Health Tests
Core Tests(0/1)
CaviBears conducts 0 out of 1 core health tests which RightPaw believe are most important to conduct for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Additional Tests
CaviBears conducts 2 additional tests available for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Genetic Test
Congenital Macrothrombocytopenia (CM) is a mild disease which normally does not have any impact on an affected dog’s health or lifespan but can cause concern if noticed on routine bloodwork without knowing the cause. It is a blood disease resulting in low numbers of very large platelets. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
