Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our puppies are raised as a part of our family and are handled from the day they are born by my young children. They leave us very well socialised and are used to the craziness and noise of a normal family. We begin basic toilet training, both inside using shaving trays and outside, on grass.
Health
Our dogs are all genetically screened for diseases and are selectively bred to avoid any puppies being at risk of developing any hereditary faults. They are also Hip and Elbow Scored and some are also Penn Hip scored to minimise the risk of hip dysplasia within the breed. Puppies are vaccinated and worm/flea/tick…
Home environment
We live on an acreage and have yard space outdoors which we section off for our puppies and have a concreted large run for our dogs as well a beautiful large grassed dog yard. Inside, we have a customised space set up for whelping within a room with vet flooring and air conditioning. We have puppy play pens and our…
Included with our puppies
We provide a backpack with a welcome folder containing lots of information and ongoing recommendations, as well as a contract of sale containing a desexing arrangement and microchip transfer. Our puppies will come with their blanket which will be personalised, along with a collar bandana, a toy and some food.

Additional Tests
Coastal Groodles conducts 7 additional tests available for the Groodle.
Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
This is a serious genetic skin disease that causes flaky dry skin and footpad problems. It can occur in many breeds but is fairly common in Golden Retrievers. There is a DNA test to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease and could pass it on to their puppies.
Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Neonatal Encephalopathy (NE) is a brain disease that can occur in Standard Poodle puppies. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.
Physical Test
Dogs affected by patellar luxation have loose kneecaps that may pop in and out of the knee joint, which can be painful and even require surgery. Having a vet examine breeding dogs for patellar luxation can confirm the dog is not affected, and that their puppies are less likely to develop the condition. Patellar luxation is more common in smaller breeds.

About the Breeder
A little about us
I’m Jaya, a mum and lover of all animals and a proud AAPBD registered breeder.
Why we got involved in breeding
I started out with Golden Retrievers whom I loved so dearly and saw how they helped benefit our children and bring our family together. I then discovered and identified qualities in the Groodle that made them a more practical breed, such as their low/non shedding coat as well as their intelligence, which makes them…
Our special touch
Our dogs are raised in the luxury of our family home and we get to know all of their individual quirks and personalities. They are raised by us with love and affection and we strive to produce the best of quality in terms of health and temperament by doing all the extra health testing that we do.
