Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our puppies are raised in a family environment in which they are able to play with children, our other dogs and meet new people. We also do Early Nuerological Stimulation with our puppies preparing them for their new lives with their forever families.
Health
Our breeding dogs are DNA tested, and have clear DNA profiles. All our puppies are vet checked, wormed and vaccinated, as well as fed a healthy well balanced diet.
Home environment
Our puppies are raised indoors in a family environment with children and are exposed to many different sights, smells and sounds. Our Puppies also have supervised outdoor play in a puppy safe pen on green grass to roll and pay around on.
Included with our puppies
Each puppy will come wormed, microchipped and have its first vaccination. Each Puppy will also come with a puppy pack which contains an information folder, Birth certificate, Puppy food, flea and tick chew, collar, harness and lead, bowl, toys, pee pads, shampoo & conditioner and a blanket smelling of mum…

- Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
- Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
- Genetic Test
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.
- Genetic Test
Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD) is a genetic disease causing a stiff gait, exercise intolerance and difficulty swallowing in young Miniature Dachshunds. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

A little about us
Hello, my name is Chantal the owner and founder of Dachshund Emporium. We love the breed and how loving, funny, and snuggly they are. All of our dogs are DNA tested and live indoors in our family home with children. Our puppies are born and raised indoors with supervised outdoor play when old enough.
Why we got involved in breeding
Growing up my family bred dogs so I have a lot of knowledge in regards to genetics, DNA testing and whelping and raising puppies.
Our special touch
We are a small family home breeder who have so much love and passion for the breed and can't wait to share it with you.
