Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
We do ENS (Early neurological stimulation) to help with puppy development and build resilience. Our puppies are enriched with a range of sensory play activities. We introduce them to some early training by playing games such as 'find it' (scent training) and 'Crate Games' to familiarise them with a flight crate. We…
Health
Our puppies will all have had their first vaccination, microchip, and are wormed every 2 weeks before coming home with you. All our puppies will have passed their health check at the vet before coming home with you. Any health or behaviour concerns will be explained to you in writing. We provide a specific health…
Home environment
Our dogs are our family members and all live and sleep in the house with us. Our dogs live in a weather protected, temperature controlled area. Our puppies are raised on our rural property. About the Breeder
A little about us
Together with my wife, Larissa, I run a small family owned kennel based on the wild and picturesque King Island, Tasmania, Australia. We breed Pedigree Longhair Miniature Dachshunds. We are part of Dog Tails King Island Collective founded my mum and sister. Our dogs live with us in our home and are part of our…
Why we got involved in breeding
My family has bred dogs for as long as I can remember, both here in Australia and in South Africa where I was born. Growing up my mum bred Toy Pomeranians, Pugs, Miniature Doberman Pinschers and Great Danes. When we moved to King Island, my mum chose to start breeding Miniature Dachshunds. In 2020 my wife and I got…
Our special touch
We start off by using Early Neurological Stimulation with our puppies from day 2 and take great care to socialise them. Our dogs eat a raw diet with organ meats, bone broth and have access to quality grain free kibble. They are toilet trained to use a dog flap from their earliest days (their mum helps with this). We…
