Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Will be at home with owner. Whelping box indoors for first 4 weeks. Extension to an outside play area after initial period. We are very hands-on with our puppies, ensuring our puppies are properly socialised, exposing them to most of the world's environments and noises which is essential practice within the first 6…
Health
DNA tests for mother and father. We DNA test through Orivet for breed-specific disease and also coat and colour gene panels. We test for hip and elbow dysplasia with our vet. We feed our Dotty on high quality kibble, raw beef bones, chicken and ensure our puppies develop a strong and healthy gut. Our dogs get…
Home environment
Family of two adults and two teenagers. One parent working full time from home. We are expecting our first litter after much research around the ethical practices surrounding this issue. We want a puppy for ourselves and so it was always the intention to not desex our dog Dotty. We have investigated fully the…
Included with our puppies
Papers. Microchip. Worming, Vaccinations, Initial food pack to facilitate transition. Information Pack and basically open to discussions on an individual basis about what will help you with your puppy and its transition to its new home. We want the best for our puppies, so would love to be part of this process and…

Additional Tests
Dotty Callaghan Sprocker conducts 4 additional tests available for the Sprocker.
Genetic Test
Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS) is a genetic disease that causes affected dogs to compulsively lick, overgroom and bite their paws. This can cause recurrent injuries and infections. The condition can be extreme and even result in the dog being euthanised if the signs cannot be controlled.
Genetic Test
This is a rare genetic disease affecting Cocker Spaniels. It can cause wobbliness and incoordination in the hindlimbs, with eventual progression to paralysis and difficulty breathing. It usually only affects older dogs and progression is slow over several years. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) is a genetic condition mainly affecting Retrievers and Spaniels. It results in the dog collapsing after periods of intense exercise, even if they are normally able to cope with lower levels of exercise. There is a DNA test available which can indicate if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Canine Phosphofructokinase (PFK) Deficiency is a genetic disease resulting in low levels of the PFK enzyme. It can result in extreme muscle fatigue, muscle cramping and severe anaemia. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

About the Breeder
A little about us
Hi I’m Deb and new to the breeding world. We had always wanted to have puppies with our beautiful Sprocker (springer x cocker) Dotty, as she has such a beautiful nature and wanted a lifelong companion for her. We have researched thoroughly about being responsible breeders and have ensured that both Dotty and her…
Why we got involved in breeding
We initially wanted a puppy from our Dotty and so didn’t have her desexed. My mum was a dog breeder and as a child, I found it a wonderful experience be part of.
Our special touch
We love our Dotty and want her to have puppies. My children are loving all the excitement surrounding the process.
