Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Puppies are raised in the home, based on the Puppy Culture method. They are surrounded by babies, children, cats, birds and small animals plus a wide range of experiences and exposure. Puppies will go to their new homes having been primed for both crate and toilet training.
Health
Both parents are extensively health tested and are fine examples of wonderfully healthy Lapphunds. Heidi is fed a raw diet high in nutrients and pre- and pro-biotics and the puppies will be fed a varied raw diet plus small amounts of high quality kibble. Our puppies are checked at our local vet before they go home…
Home environment
The puppies will grow up in our home, with their mother Heidi, at the heart of our family. We live on acreage in beautiful southern Tasmania. They will be exposed to a wide variety of people, animals and experiences of all kinds.
Included with our puppies
Puppies will go to their new homes with 6 weeks free insurance, transition puppy food, puppy pack full of information for their new owners and their own toy to help familiarise them to their new home. We will offer a lifetime of advice and support for new owners.

Core Tests(2/2)

Additional Tests
Elumii Finnish Lapphunds conducts 5 additional tests available for the Finnish Lapphund.
Genetic Test
Canine Multifocal Retinopathy (CMR) is a genetic disorder causing local detachment of the retina in young dogs. It does not always cause impaired vision or blindness but can in severe cases. There are three types of CMR affecting different breeds. A DNA test is available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Physical Test
These breeders have had x-rays taken on their breeding dogs to assess the quality of their elbow joints. Dogs with very low ‘elbow scores’ are less likely to develop elbow problems in the future and less likely to pass hereditary elbow problems on to their puppies.
Genetic Test
GSD II, or Pompe Disease, is a rare glycogen storage disease that can affect Finnish Lapphunds. It can cause poor growth, muscle weakness, vomiting and heart problems. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a type of genetic eye disease causing deterioration of the retina and eventually, blindness. There are a variety of sub-types of PRA, which can occur in various breeds. There are various DNA tests available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

About the Breeder
A little about us
We are Rose and Luke Jarman. We live on a 10 acre property in Southern Tasmania with our 3 small children, our cats, bunnies, chooks and of course, our beautiful Lapphund Heidi. We fell in love with the breed in 2013 while living in Darwin, NT and started our journey with Lappies with Larry (Theldaroy Nuori Keikari)…
Why we got involved in breeding
We want to preserve and pass on Heidis incredible type and temperament to future generation of Lapphunds.
Our special touch
Calm, sweet, intelligent and people focused, we are very much hoping that she passes these excellent qualities on to her puppies.
