Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our puppies are born inside our family home and are carefully watch over from day one.. Handled by adults and children.. Encouraged to be puppies and play and explore new areas as well.
Health
We do every DNA health test available plus other physical checks by vets to insure that both the Sire and the dam are in excellent health. We also register them with Dogs Victoria so they have a a pedigree certificate of some of the best Pure bred poodles in the world. Being show people, we are very concerned…

Genetic Test
Chondrodystrophy (CDDY) is a condition causing abnormal development of cartilage. Many breeds are prone to this condition, especially short-legged breeds. CDDY makes a dog high risk for developing Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), or ‘slipped discs’ in their spine. There is a DNA test available to identify if a dog is carrying genes making their puppies higher risk for CDDY/IVDD.
Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Osteochondrodysplasias are a group of rare genetic diseases that cause problems with connective tissue, cartilage, or bone development. They commonly cause dwarfism and movement disorders. There is a DNA test available in some breeds to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

About the Breeder
A little about us
Hi I’m Melissa and I run GlenaraPark Poodles, based in Victoria and breeders of well-tempered, show-quality miniature, toy and standard poodles. Originally, I started to breed poodles, when I developed a love for the breed and as a show dog. We also run Glenara Park Stud Australia - breeding, raising and training…
Why we got involved in breeding
We got into breeding through showing the dogs, all the puppies that weren’t destined for showing to go to loving family homes.
Our special touch
Our breeding program is focused on breeding high-quality and show quality poodles, from imported lines (at great cost to us).We only breed from healthy show quality poodles. We only breed a litter when we want a puppy ourselves to show. Then the rest are available to loving pet homes.
