Cerebellar Ataxia is a genetic disease that has been identified in several breeds. It is a degenerative, neurological disease which causes the cerebellum in the brain to lose function over time. It many breeds this is first noted in neonatal puppies with incoordination and tremoring. It can progress to difficulty walking and eating, becoming life threatening. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
