Puppies ready to go home in 6 weeks

Hi, I'm Pauleen B.

Although we've been breeding purebred dogs for decades, we only recently added Havanese to our team. We were looking for a smaller dog, preferably non-shedding, that could be trained for assistance or therapy work as well as being a terrific family pet. We were blown away by our first Havanese. They are delightful…

Our Breeding Practices

Behaviour and socialisation

We are experts in puppy socialisation and spend a lot of time with our puppies, introducing them to different objects and people. We also make sure they get plenty of down time. Nobody wants a puppy who needs to be with people every minute of the day, so our puppies are sometimes left alone to amuse themselves or…

Health

We've not encountered any health problems in our Havanese so don't overdo health testing. All of our adults have a full genetic screen and an annual health check which covers oral health, eyes, ears, heart and lungs. Puppies are checked at six weeks and have parentage confirmed by DNA, which rules out all of the…

Home environment

Our puppies are reared on our very large farm in Central Victoria. They live in our house for the first few weeks of their lives and then move into a purpose-built puppy palace which is heated and cooled as required and comes equipped with a puppy playroom and outside yard. They have lots of quiet time to rest and…

Included with our puppies

Our puppies come with collars and leads, starter food packs, a blanket that smells like mum and six weeks of insurance. We also offer loads of advice for new owners and welcome multiple visits to the farm while the pups are growing.

A little about us

We breed dogs as a hobby but take it very seriously. We chose our property because it suited our dogs and we then spent a small fortune building the fanciest puppy palace we could design. Ron retired a few years back and runs the farm. Until the end of 2025 Pauleen was a professor at La Trobe University and an…

Why we got involved in breeding

We've both always had dogs as pets but we initially got involved in competing with and breeding dogs because we had to live in suburbia for a while and couldn't fit horses in the backyard. By the time we were able to move back out of town, we were hooked, and we've been breeding dogs as a hobby ever since.

Our special touch

What makes us special is that everything we do is based on a combination of personal experience and science. We chose our breeds based on studies conducted by Pauleen's PhD students, who surveyed Australian dog owners about the characteristics of their ideal dog. Other students have worked on understanding dog…
