Kim's Groodles
Sunshine Coast, QLD
Hi, I'm Kim Z.
I started breeding Groodles this year. We DNA test our breeding dogs to avoid any genetic diseases being passed down the line. They are such lovely dogs with wonderful temperaments and suited to families of all ages. They also make great companion/assistance dogs as they are very patient and friendly. It is so…

Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
We have young children and they are involved in the socialisation of the puppies. They sit them upside down, play with their paws and pick them up. We ensure the puppies get used to being handled and they have lots of stimulation and engagement with us. We also have a cat and they soon get accustomed to the noise…
Health
Both our breeding girl and the Stud are tested for hereditary diseases through Orivet. The puppies are vet-checked at 6 weeks and undergo a thorough health check. They are also microchipped, vaccinated and wormed on a fortnightly basis from 2 weeks. After weaning, we feed them Royal Canin dry food.
Home environment
We live on a large 30 acre property so plenty of space outside for them to run around. The whelping area is a verandah off the lounge area with timber floors. This area is enclosed and the puppies have lots of toys to play with and treats. We have crates indoors for sleeping.
Included with our puppies
We offer a small information pack as well as a Royal Canin food pack with your puppy.
Health Tests

Kim's Groodles conducts 1 out of 3 core health tests which RightPaw believe are most important to conduct for the Groodle.
PRA

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a type of genetic eye disease causing deterioration…
Additional Tests
Kim's Groodles conducts 8 additional tests available for the Groodle.
Genetic Test
Canine Elliptocytosis is a rare genetic disease causing the red blood cells to be abnormally elliptical in shape, rather than round. It generally does not cause a clinical problem to affected dogs, but puppies may be mildly anaemic and smaller than others. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB) is a congenital skin disease that causes fragile skin, blisters, ulceration, and skin scarring. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
This is a serious genetic skin disease that causes flaky dry skin and footpad problems. It can occur in many breeds but is fairly common in Golden Retrievers. There is a DNA test to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease and could pass it on to their puppies.
Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Neonatal Encephalopathy (NE) is a brain disease that can occur in Standard Poodle puppies. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.
