Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our puppies are raised and socialised with children and other dogs to help them become confident and well-adjusted companions. From birth, they are handled daily and gently desensitised to common grooming and health checks, including having their ears, teeth, and paws handled, as well as weekly nail trims. We also…
Health
Our puppies and dogs are fed a varied diet including both dry and raw foods. Puppies are wormed every 2 weeks and receive their first vaccinations at 6 weeks of age. Our breeding dogs are DNA tested for PRA, NCL, MPS, OI, and SDMD, and we also screen for MMVD to help support the health and longevity of our lines.
Home environment
Our puppies are raised in our home as part of our family and spend their first weeks in our living room surrounded by everyday household life. They are raised with children and other dogs, helping them become well-socialised and comfortable in a busy home environment. Living on a property allows our puppies to begin…
Included with our puppies
Our puppies go home with a carefully put together puppy pack to help make the transition into their new homes as smooth and comforting as possible. Each puppy pack may vary slightly, but generally includes a bed, a blanket with familiar scents from home, favourite toys, a collar, a bag of their current food, and a…

Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.
Genetic Test
Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD) is a genetic disease causing a stiff gait, exercise intolerance and difficulty swallowing in young Miniature Dachshunds. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

Why we got involved in breeding
I first fell in love with dachshunds because of their loyal, affectionate, and hilarious personalities. They may be small, but they have such big characters and quickly become part of every aspect of your life. Breeding started from a genuine passion for the breed and a desire to raise healthy, well-socialised…
Our special touch
We are a small hobby breeder that only has a couple of litters each year, allowing us to dedicate plenty of time, love, and attention to every puppy we raise. Our dogs are truly part of our family and a huge part of our everyday lives. We take time away from work while raising our puppies to ensure they receive the…
