Behaviour and socialisation
Our dogs are our family! All our puppies are raised in our family home alongside our young children and larger dogs.
Health
All our dogs are assessed for correct conformation and temperaments prior to considering a joining. Our dogs also all receive DNA testing to ensure they are clear of genetic and heritable diseases. Our puppies are examined post whelping by a veterinarian and then again at their first vaccinations (6wks). Puppies…
Home environment
Puppies are raised in our loving family home - they are exposed to our daily lives from day one. Our dedicated puppy area is cleaned up to three times daily. We use F10 cleaning products once daily and we also sterilise bowls etc once daily. We have a dedicated outdoor area that we allow puppies to be under…

Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.
Genetic Test
Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD) is a genetic disease causing a stiff gait, exercise intolerance and difficulty swallowing in young Miniature Dachshunds. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

About the Breeder
A little about us
Hi Everyone, I'm Chloe the owner of LOWANLONG Hounds. I have been an animal lover from young and work in the veterinary industry. We are a young easy going family living with our many animals (dogs, cattle and chickens) on our family farm.
Why we got involved in breeding
Why we decided to breed our beloved dogs is essentially to better the breeds (basset hound and dachshund), with dogs that are conformationally sound and have the very best temperaments. Unfortunately too often I experience many injuries, diseases and behavioural issues that could be prevented through better breeding.
Our special touch
Our main aim is to provide you with beautiful healthy puppies and we do absolutely everything to ensure this!
