Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
We take the pups out to meet guests & neighbors, take them for rides in the car, and try to expose them to as much pleasant human contact as possible. We also socialise the pups by having them interact with other dogs within our home and move them into different yards to get them used to different environments…
Health
All our puppies come vaccinated (C3), wormed (at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age), and vet-checked (at birth, and then again at 6 and 8 weeks of age). We also conduct extensive research into all lines that are a part of our breeding program, checking immediate relations, as well as cousins,…
Home environment
They are raised in the home, and have access to various parts of the house and house yards, ensuring that they are used to normal household noises. They are raised with various sound effects playing in the background, to help prepare them for the rest of their lives. Our pup day-yard is a sectioned part of the…

Genetic Test
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Physical Test
An eye certificate means the breeder has had their breeding dogs examined by a veterinary ophthalmologist, to confirm they are not affected by any eye conditions which may be passed down genetically to their puppies. If relevant for the breed, it also includes running DNA tests to confirm the dog is not a genetic carrier of hereditary eye diseases, such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). It includes breeders who have participated in the Australian Canine Eye Scheme (ACES).
Genetic Test
Hyperuricosuria (HUU) is a genetic disease that causes a build-up of uric acid in the urine, predisposing to painful bladder and kidney stones. It can occur in a range of breeds. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Physical Test
A heart certificate indicates that a breeding dog has been screened for heart disease such as DCM or MMVD. Auscultation alone is only accepted as a screening method if performed by a veterinary cardiologist or a GP vet certifying an OFA Basic Cardiac Screen. Echocardiography is an accepted screening method via GP or cardiologist.

About the Breeder
A little about us
Hi, I'm Tricia, from Majestueux Kennels! We are renowned as a British Bulldog breeder, but have recently extended our breeding program to Chows. Our breeding program has been developed from select lines, selected for health and breed standard, to produce top quality show dogs and pets.
Why we got involved in breeding
As an established British Bulldog breeder, we started breeding Chows because we were always standing in front of them in the show ring, and we became obsessed with them! We were looking to introduce a second breed to our show team, and the Chows are almost the opposite to Bulldogs in personality! A little more aloof,…
Our special touch
We breed for type not trend. Breeding for type results in healthy quality dogs. Our dogs have had a vast range of health tests way beyond what is required. We have the proof that when bred to type (breed Standard) health comes naturally. We breed family pets that are also show quality, and take great care to do so.…
