Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our puppies are very well socialised as we have them in the most common area of our house so they get lots of interaction and all different noises from the day they are born. We start to handle them with care at 3 weeks of age besides myself only picking them up to weigh them everyday in the first two weeks. I have a…
Health
Both Leo and Ivy have had DNA testing and also we have their parent DNA. All DNA has come back clear. Our pups are wormed from 3 weeks of age every 2 weeks. they are vet checked and microchipped at 6 weeks of age.
Home environment
The puppies are born into a whelping box which they remain in for their first 3-4 weeks once they start trying to climb out. Ivy is able to climb in and out of the box into a secure pen that is attatched. After this time the are transfered to a crate which has the pen attached around it with access to inside and…
Included with our puppies
In our puppy pack will be some food they will be eating supplied to you for the first week. All records of vet appointments etc. They own toys and also a piece of blanket that they will be using while in our care with their mummas scent on it. Also I will always be on call and available to chat to anytime and would…

Additional Tests
Mini Tails of Love conducts 4 additional tests available for the Miniature Dachshund.
Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.
Genetic Test
Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD) is a genetic disease causing a stiff gait, exercise intolerance and difficulty swallowing in young Miniature Dachshunds. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

About the Breeder
A little about us
We love our fur babies and we thought they would make beautiful pups with their combind looks and personalities. So we decided to breed them. We are still new but have done a lot of reaserch. We have already had one litter and have our second one atm, everything went well and we enjoy everything about it.
Why we got involved in breeding
We decided after having Leo that we would buy a second compainion for Leo. After a few months of seeing them together we thought that they would make beuatiful looking pups and with thier different personalities together the pups would be a great mix.
Our special touch
We handle/cuddle and socialise our pups a lot. Whenever and where ever we can take them we do as long as its safe to do so.
