Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
We are a family of adults living with miniature dachshunds in our homes. Pups are extremely well socialised from a very young age. I follow a behavioural and socialisation program, which involves educational toys and equipment for the pups to learn from as they develop. I begin toilet training at a very young age,…
Health
Each dachshund in my breeding program is fully DNA tested, health checked at 6 monthly intervals, vaccinated at 12 monthly intervals, wormed monthly, and flea/tick controlled monthly, to ensure they are in pristine health at all times, particularly when preparing to produce a litter of pups. The pups are wormed every…
Home environment
The dachshunds reside in our homes alongside family, where they eat, sleep, and live. They have free run of the living area, and there are doggy doors in place on external doors to the fenced areas, thus allowing them to come and go outside as they please. The pups are also trained to use these doggy doors from a…

Additional Tests
Moluchi (MDBA Registered) conducts 4 additional tests available for the Miniature Dachshund.
Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.
Genetic Test
Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD) is a genetic disease causing a stiff gait, exercise intolerance and difficulty swallowing in young Miniature Dachshunds. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

Why we got involved in breeding
Our family bred miniature poodles many years ago. One family member acquired a miniature dachshund in 2015, and we fell in love with the breed. We acquired Chilli shortly thereafter, and as she was so perfect to the breed standards, we looked into developing a breeding program to produce more Chilli mini me's. …
