Behaviour and socialisation

Our puppies are raised in a loving home, that includes four children. We like to make sure our puppies have access to lots of sights and sounds in the critical early weeks, so that they are ready for anything when they go to their new homes. They are introduced to lots of different textures and sounds to help them…

Additional Tests

Nocte Cocker Spaniels conducts 5 additional tests available for the Cocker Spaniel.

dna iconGenetic Test

This is a rare genetic disease affecting Cocker Spaniels. It can cause wobbliness and incoordination in the hindlimbs, with eventual progression to paralysis and difficulty breathing. It usually only affects older dogs and progression is slow over several years. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

dna iconGenetic Test

Bernard-Soulier Syndrome (BSS) is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by abnormally large platelets in low numbers, meaning an affected animal cannot form clots properly after tissue damage. It can lead to life-threatening bleeding issues following surgery or injury. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

dna iconGenetic Test

Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) is a genetic condition mainly affecting Retrievers and Spaniels. It results in the dog collapsing after periods of intense exercise, even if they are normally able to cope with lower levels of exercise. There is a DNA test available which can indicate if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

stethoscope iconPhysical Test

These breeders have had x-rays taken on their breeding dogs to assess the quality of their elbow joints. Dogs with very low ‘elbow scores’ are less likely to develop elbow problems in the future and less likely to pass hereditary elbow problems on to their puppies.

dna iconGenetic Test

Canine Phosphofructokinase (PFK) Deficiency is a genetic disease resulting in low levels of the PFK enzyme. It can result in extreme muscle fatigue, muscle cramping and severe anaemia. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

About the Breeder

Why we got involved in breeding

I fell in love with breeding growing up next to my aunties purebred Dalmatian’s. When I got my first cocker spaniel as a girl, I knew it was love and that someday I would contribute to keeping this beautiful breed going and continue the legacy of many breeders who have gone before to make this outstanding breed…

Our special touch

We bred to continue the work that has gone before with the health and happiness of our cockers always front of mind, and to continue to better the breed
