Hi, I'm Robyn D.
Hi, I'm Robyn from Pomfire Pomeranians! I've been breeding dogs for over 30 years - starting with beagles and now into Pomeranians for quite a few years. I worked with my Pom mentors for ten years, they are experts on Pomeranians, before getting my first Pomeranian. I am committed to the preservation of the Breed by…

Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
The first step in breeding is always choosing parents whose temperaments are correct. It is very difficult to train and/or alter a dog with a bad temperament. I start Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) training for puppies at three days old, and this continues right through their development. My puppies are…
Health
I conduct all the relevant health testing for Pomeranians - all of my foundation dogs have been genetically tested and have had a full breed analysis through Orivet. My dogs are checked at least annually at the vet, with all the most vulnerable points examined (eyes, ears, etc.). Diet is also extremely important - I…
Home environment
My pups are raised completely indoors and are monitored 24/7 - by myself and my support crew, not by a camera, for the first two weeks! This is to ensure mum is coping with her new brood and that the pups are feeding sufficiently and not being squashed under mum. Pomeranian babies are very small, so they need…
Included with our puppies
When you purchase a puppy from Pomfire you receive a comprehensive booklet with all the details they're going to need, including emergency info, feeding, training, daily maintenance, and how to puppy-proof their home. This is provided electronically before the puppy is due to picked up so the the new family can…

Globoid Cell Leukodystrophy (GCL) is a genetic lysosomal storage disorder that causes neurological problems. It can affect several breeds including Cairn Terriers. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Hyperuricosuria (HUU) is a genetic disease that causes a build-up of uric acid in the urine, predisposing to painful bladder and kidney stones. It can occur in a range of breeds. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a type of genetic eye disease causing deterioration of the retina and eventually, blindness. There are a variety of sub-types of PRA, which can occur in various breeds. There are various DNA tests available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

Our payment process
I do not make a final decision on which puppy will go to which family until after they are 8 weeks old and sometimes even longer. Why we got involved in breeding
I've always loved animals. As a child, we had animals everywhere, and we entered into showing because we wanted to help preserve the breeds, and maintain them as they should be for their original purpose. I am a preservation breeder, and this is something I am really passionate about.
Our special touch
I believe that training can be more about the people than the dog! I want to be there for all the owners, and stay in contact with every buyer to help them on their journey. I try to have an annual catch-up with our extended puppy family, with a puppy picnic at home for all those who are able to attend. If owners are…
