Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
We are a family who breed dachshunds. We only have one litter at a time, enabling us to give them the attention and care they need. This allows them to interact with our family for the first 8-12 weeks of their life.
Health
Our dams and sires are DNA tested and clear of hereditary diseases that could impact the puppies. Each puppy is thoroughly checked by a vet and these reports are shared with our customers.
Home environment
We live on a 2 acre property in the Hunter Valley. The puppies go between a fenced yard designed for their enjoyment and inside our cosy home where their mother, Marlow, lives. They sleep inside overnight.
Included with our puppies
1. ANKC registration papers (breeding prefix and membership number can be provided). 2. DNA tested and clear of genetic diseases 3. Microchipped and vet checked 4. Wormed, flea/tick controlled 5. Fed a quality puppy diet to promote correct bone and muscle development. 6. Up-to-date vaccinations 7. Well socialised…

Additional Tests

Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.
Genetic Test
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.
Genetic Test
Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD) is a genetic disease causing a stiff gait, exercise intolerance and difficulty swallowing in young Miniature Dachshunds. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

About the Breeder
A little about us
Hi There! Our names are Blair and Emma Lemke and we are registered breeders of reputable, pedigree miniature long haired dachshunds. We are located in the Hunter Valley (NSW, Australia), but our puppies have been adopted by loving homes all over Australia and internationally.
Why we got involved in breeding
It all started with our shaded cream girl, Marlow. With the most placid temperament, golden cream locks, dark eyes and nose—we fell in love. Although she was (and still is) firstly a member of our family, she is secondly the mother of beautiful, world-class, pedigree puppies. We breed because we genuinely love this…
Our special touch
We are family. We don't own lots of dogs and only do one litter at a time so that they can get the necessary care and attention they need.
