Our Breeding Practices

Behaviour and socialisation

Our puppies and dogs socialise with a range of older dogs and other animals to maximise their start at life - this includes chickens, border collies, cats etc. We believe safe introductions & exposure is the best way to prepare our puppies for their new homes.

Health

All of our dogs undergo regular health checks and are fully vaccinated. Our puppies also see the vet and have their vaccinations etc prior to leaving for their new homes.

Home environment

Our puppies are lucky to be raised on a diverse little farm, where they are able to run and play but also to engage with farm life - they are also raised along side children which helps their mental stimulation and development.

dna iconGenetic Test

Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.

Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.

Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD) is a genetic disease causing a stiff gait, exercise intolerance and difficulty swallowing in young Miniature Dachshunds. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

About the Breeder

A little about us

This will be my first litter of Miniature Dachshunds, and I am super excited to share the experience with you! I also breed Border Collies, so whelping and raising puppies comes naturally to me.

Why we got involved in breeding

I love nurturing the mothers and watching the bond they share with their babies and then helping the pups develop and find beautiful connections with new families.

Our special touch

We pride ourselves on putting as much love and care into our pups and finding the best fitting home possible & not compromising on quality.
