Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our pups are raised in our home, with our five adult Kerry Blues. We have a small holding farm, so they get to be around sheep, chickens, kids on bikes (and my two noisy teenagers!). I employ lots of touch therapy - handling their paws and tails, touching all over and massaging. This is extremely important as the…
Health
All our breeding stock and parent dogs are Orivet DNA-checked prior to breeding, particularly for inherited diseases to ensure parents are not carriers. All our pups come wormed, vaccinated and micro-chipped, and with an initial pet insurance policy.
Home environment
Our pups are raised inside the house, in a lovely big 2-metre whelping box. Once they're around five weeks old, they go outdoors into a cement and fake-grass pen with a gazebo over the top, and a Laserlite roof. They also have a puppy gym, with toys hanging off the rafters, a slide, cubby holes and more. They tend to…
Included with our puppies
I have a very beautiful commercially-printed Puppy Carers book, all about Kerry Blues and produced by my kennel. It contains information about nutrition, grooming, clipping - everything you can think of. We provide a voucher for Royal Canin food, an initial insurance policy, pedigree papers, and a breeder contract…

About the Breeder
A little about us
Hi, I'm Debbie from Tasshot Kerry Blue Terriers! We have owned and exhibited this wonderful breed for 10 years. Our dogs live with us in our busy home, raised on a small semi-rural property with a couple of sheep, chickens and a bossy cat.
Why we got involved in breeding
My first Kerry Blue was the first pedigree dog I had owned, and so I launched into showing and got a bit hooked! As Kerry Blues are a relatively rare breed, I had advice from a breeder mentor of mine who suggested to find a male and create a line of my own. And that was where it all started!
Our special touch
We breed for both the show ring and for family pets - our boy Jack has been a multiple best in show winner. Our Puppy Carers book, which we developed and commercially printed at Tasshot Kerry Blues, is a great resource for our puppy owners that we are really proud of.
