Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Socialisation is a very important part of our breeding program and begins from an early age. Our puppies are raised in a busy, loving home environment where they are constantly handled, played with, and cuddled. We are fortunate to have nine grandchildren who visit regularly, ranging in age, which allows our puppies…
Health
The health and wellbeing of our dogs and puppies is at the core of everything we do. We go above and beyond to ensure that every puppy is bred with care, responsibility, and the future of the Miniature Schnauzer breed in mind. Our breeding dogs are carefully selected and imported from overseas from highly reputable…
Home environment
owned family home, where they are truly part of everyday life. All of our dogs and puppies sleep indoors in a safe, warm and clean environment, allowing them to grow up feeling secure and well cared for from day one. They have access to air-conditioned areas to ensure they are comfortable in all seasons. During the…
Included with our puppies
Each of our puppies goes home with a thoughtfully prepared puppy pack to help make their transition into their new family as smooth and comforting as possible. This includes a soft blanket with their mother’s scent, which provides familiarity and comfort during the first few nights away from us. We also include a…

Additional Tests
Valente Paw - Miniature Schnauzers conducts 5 additional tests available for the Miniature Schnauzer.
Genetic Test
Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a heart disease causing an enlarged heart with stretched heart muscle. Affected dogs are high risk of developing life-threatening heart failure as the abnormal heart cannot beat as effectively. There is a genetic test in some breeds to show if a breeding dog is predisposed to DCM.
Genetic Test
This is a genetic disease that affects a variety of breeds. It causes a blood clotting problem resulting in excessive bleeding. There is a DNA test available to ensure a breeding dog will not pass this condition on their puppies.
Genetic Test
Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (MDS) is a condition where a male animal, with normal male genitalia, also possesses a uterus and fallopian tubes. This is caused by an error in development of the reproductive tract in early embryonic development. The condition is often discovered by accident during abdominal surgery. There is a DNA test available to identify if a dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Myotonia Hereditaria/Congenita is a genetic disease that causes muscle problems resulting in a stiff gait and difficulty swallowing. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Spondylocostal Dysostosis (SD, or ‘Comma Defect’), is a genetic growth disorder causing spinal and rib malformations. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

A little about us
Hi, my name is Maria, and I am the breeder behind Valente Paw Schnauzers. I am a full-time, home-based breeder with a deep love and respect for my dogs, who are very much part of our family. I have dedicated myself to breeding beautiful, healthy Miniature Schnauzers with gentle, loving temperaments. All of our dogs…
Why we got involved in breeding
I became involved in breeding because of my deep love for dogs and my desire to do things the right way. What started as a passion for the Miniature Schnauzer breed grew into a commitment to preserving and improving the breed through responsible, ethical breeding. I wanted to raise puppies in a loving home…
Our special touch
My special touch is the level of care, time, and love I put into every single puppy. Because I am home full-time, my dogs and puppies are raised inside my home as part of our family, not in kennels. They receive constant interaction, early socialisation, and one-on-one attention from the moment they are born. I go…
