Our Breeding Practices

Behaviour and socialisation

My puppies will be raised using both Early neurological stimulation practices and puppy culture. They will be crate trained and have started toilet training before leaving for their new homes. I will start working on both shaping and luring exercises as well as loading markers for training. They will be exposed to a…

Health

I will only breed dogs who are dna clear on their breed profile, and have a good-excellent hip and elbow score. I will not breed a bitch before she is 2 years old, so that this required health testing can be completed.

Home environment

I have a loving home environment when my dogs have full access to inside and outside. They speed in the house and while they are all crate trained, they are not limited to their crates while inside.

Additional Tests

dna iconGenetic Test

Canine Elliptocytosis is a rare genetic disease causing the red blood cells to be abnormally elliptical in shape, rather than round. It generally does not cause a clinical problem to affected dogs, but puppies may be mildly anaemic and smaller than others. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

dna iconGenetic Test

This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

stethoscope iconPhysical Test

These breeders have had x-rays taken on their breeding dogs to assess the quality of their elbow joints. Dogs with very low ‘elbow scores’ are less likely to develop elbow problems in the future and less likely to pass hereditary elbow problems on to their puppies.

dna iconGenetic Test

Neonatal Encephalopathy (NE) is a brain disease that can occur in Standard Poodle puppies. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

dna iconGenetic Test

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a type of genetic eye disease causing deterioration of the retina and eventually, blindness. There are a variety of sub-types of PRA, which can occur in various breeds. There are various DNA tests available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

About the Breeder

A little about us

I have been working with dogs since I was 16, and have been involved in a lot of the canine industry. I have my cert IV in vet nursing, I’m a NDTF dog trainer, and I work as a dog groomer. I have been involved in fostering for rescues, as well as competing in a range of different dog sports and conformation shows.

Why we got involved in breeding

Because of my love of the breed. Standard Poodles have become my whole world, and I’m now dedicated to their health, and maintaining their correct temperament and structure. They are a smart, biddable, friendly, and confident dog that should be able to go from working all day to relaxing in the home with you.

Our special touch

I’m a massive dog history nerd, and am really into genetics and researching blood lines/pedigrees.
