Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our puppies are exposed to a variety of stimuli to promote their overall development. They experience physical, visual, and auditory stimuli to help them adapt to different sensory experiences. They are also exposed to other animals, such as dogs and cats, as well as to children and adults, to foster positive social…
Health
We prioritize the health and well-being of our puppies by ensuring they receive the necessary care. They are regularly wormed to prevent and control parasites. Each puppy is micro-chipped for identification purposes and vaccinated to protect against common diseases. Our breeding dogs undergo thorough testing for all…
Home environment
Our puppies are whelped inside our home, where they receive constant care and attention. This ensures a safe and comfortable environment for both the mother and her puppies. We prioritize socialization and provide ample opportunities for our puppies to interact with people and other animals. Being located on an…

Additional Tests
Whiteside Spaniels conducts 4 additional tests available for the Cocker Spaniel.
Genetic Test
Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS) is a genetic disease that causes affected dogs to compulsively lick, overgroom and bite their paws. This can cause recurrent injuries and infections. The condition can be extreme and even result in the dog being euthanised if the signs cannot be controlled.
Genetic Test
Bernard-Soulier Syndrome (BSS) is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by abnormally large platelets in low numbers, meaning an affected animal cannot form clots properly after tissue damage. It can lead to life-threatening bleeding issues following surgery or injury. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) is a genetic condition mainly affecting Retrievers and Spaniels. It results in the dog collapsing after periods of intense exercise, even if they are normally able to cope with lower levels of exercise. There is a DNA test available which can indicate if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
Genetic Test
Canine Phosphofructokinase (PFK) Deficiency is a genetic disease resulting in low levels of the PFK enzyme. It can result in extreme muscle fatigue, muscle cramping and severe anaemia. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

Our puppies are very relaxed, well rounded dogs that swim in our dams, run in our paddocks and interact…

They are loving, faithful, very playful and right at home whether in your lap or getting into mischief around the house. I feel they are THE best dog for families with children due to their relaxed nature and patience, laid back…
