VETERINARIAN-LED BREEDING AT ITS FOUNDATION Dr Vadi Govender graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon in 1984 and completed a Master’s Degree in Reproduction in 1987, together with advanced studies in Genetics and Nutrition. Reproduction and breeding have remained a central part of his professional life ever since. That depth of knowledge guides every stage of the breeding program — from thoughtful parent selection, through pregnancy and neonatal care, to nutrition, early development, socialisation, veterinary assessment and each puppy’s preparation for family life. BREEDING EXPERIENCE BUILT ACROSS DECADES Dr Govender served as National Veterinary Services Manager, with responsibility for the breeding of Labradors for Seeing Eye Dogs Australia — a role where temperament, health, genetics, reproductive performance and suitability for purpose carried exceptional importance. His professional work at Fairfield Hospital also included the breeding and management of rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice for scientific and therapeutic programs, with close attention to reproduction, lineage, genetics, nutrition and husbandry. These experiences helped shape a breeding philosophy founded on disciplined selection, scientific understanding and deep respect for the generations that follow. CREDENTIALS THAT STRENGTHEN THE BREEDING PROGRAM Beyond Veterinary Science and Reproduction, Dr Govender holds Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Commercial Law. Together, these disciplines bring a broader dimension to PAWSUM PUPS — combining veterinary judgement, reproductive science, genetics, nutrition, governance, transparency and professional accountability within one breeding program. A FAMILY DEPTH OF CARE Puppy care is further strengthened by substantial professional grooming experience within the family. Dr Govender’s wife, a graduate in Law and Chemistry, entered professional dog grooming in 2007, bringing extensive practical knowledge of coat care, grooming, presentation and routine husbandry. For Poodles, Cavaliers and Cavoodles, that experience adds another valuable layer of preparation for lifelong coat care, comfort and wellbeing.
