I am a small boutique breeder and my Frenchie’s are my family. My aim is to breed healthy, sound French Bulldogs true to the ANKC Breed Standard, following Dogs NSW and NSW French Bulldogs Code of Ethics. I have 3 breeding girls, and they are all health tested prior to breeding. This means they are DNA tested for hereditary cataracts, breed specific diseases and their hips and spine are X-rayed and scored. My girls have also been Respiratory function graded, by a Specialist Veterinarian team from Cambridge University with clear score gradings – results can be seen on the Orchid website. Both Parents undergo DNA testing prior to breeding. This means the puppies are clear by parentage and will not inherit/ display any of these diseases. All my breeding dogs undergo a Full Breed Disease DNA Profile. Based on those results, the puppies that I breed cannot be affected (double gene carriers) by the testable diseases known to affect French Bulldogs. Puppies are DNA tested, spine and trachea X-rayed at 9 weeks, heart, eyes, and jaws are checked, and a veterinary health report is issued, and guaranteed.
