Hello, I'm Louise N.
Welcome to Grandaflora Goldens. I have put together some history and facts about my beautiful goldies. Many of you may already have a golden as a cherished member of your family, so you are not immune to their ability to steal your heart, but if you are considering this journey for the first time, please read on. For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of my own golden retriever. I grew up with an adopted lab and then an Airdale, but for me, no dog represented pure love like a retriever. I had plans to run together and laze on the couch watching movies. I was 27 when my first retriever Matilda arrived. She was sweet and small with a born penchant for pulling clothes off the line. My four year old daughter adored her. Unfortunately though, Matilda struggled with a mystery illness and we were heartbroken when she passed away on her 2nd birthday. This experience became a sobering lesson to only purchase future puppies from a responsible, experienced breeder. My passion for breeding from then onwards was fostered by a long-time registered breeder in Colac, who guided me through the pitfalls, for whom I am forever grateful. I continue to evolve as a breeder with every passing year, finding better ways to care for my dogs and ensure a healthy and rich life. For many reasons, we only have a litter every 2nd to 3rd year. Our second baby, a boy named Stanley and a born con artist with a love of the good life, particularly a BBQ and teasing the girls. He lived to surf waves at the beach and lose himself in the sand dunes of Torquay. Stan lived a full life for an amazing 15 years and we still laugh about his antics. Since then we have shared our life with Sophie, Audrey, Hugo Boss, Andie and our new addition, adorable Henry - whose father has sired Andie's expectant litter. We now live in Trentham surrounded by the Wombat Forest, where my current girls, Andie and Martha love to run with my husband and myself whilst fussing over our chickens.
