Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
My puppies are born and raised in a home environment - they are socialised with family and friends (for their protection), parents are imported and champion stock. Norwegian Buhunds are a ‘rare’ breed in Australia - but well suited to our lifestyle. Energetic, hardy and very loving. All puppies are vaccinated,…
Health
Parents are health checked and I provide a written guarantee with respect to hip and elbow dysplasia with all my puppies, buyers are also provided with a written health evaluation from a vet. My guarantee states I will always accept my own puppies back, at any time, should owners find they cannot keep the puppy they…
Home environment
I live in Adelaide and keep only a few dogs, that I show and they are the centre of my life. My dogs are my family first and live in the house with me. My dogs are a hobby and a passion.
Included with our puppies
Each puppy comes with micro-chip info, vaccination card, written guarantee, health clearance and an information pack with advice on feeding, training, socialising and house and crate training. I am only an email or a phone call away and can be contacted at any time throughout your dog’s life.

Physical Test
An eye certificate means the breeder has had their breeding dogs examined by a veterinary ophthalmologist, to confirm they are not affected by any eye conditions which may be passed down genetically to their puppies. If relevant for the breed, it also includes running DNA tests to confirm the dog is not a genetic carrier of hereditary eye diseases, such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). It includes breeders who have participated in the Australian Canine Eye Scheme (ACES).
Physical Test
A mouth certificate indicates the dog has had its teeth examined for any missing or misaligned teeth and that its bite is correct. Dogs with overshot, undershot or misaligned jaws should not be bred. A poor bite or jaw problems can lead to more dental disease, ulcers, palate and lip problems.

About the Breeder
A little about us
My name is Dr Roberta Crouch and I have been breeding pure bred dogs in Australia for over 30 years. Very recently (about 10 years ago) I fell in love with the Norwegian Buhund and have imported breeding stock from Norway, the USA and the UK. I bred Rottweilers under my Blackcombe Prefix prior to this, and I still…
Why we got involved in breeding
I have always loved dogs and enjoy the interesting and exciting aspects of endeavoring to breed good sound companions for others. I have enjoyed showing my dogs prior to becoming interested in breeding, and took up breeding initially to maintain companion and show dogs for my own pleasure.
Our special touch
Due to my long history, originally in rottweilers, I have people coming back to me for the 2nd, 3rd and even 4th dog and my sales are mostly via referrals. My special touch is that I don't own a lot of dogs and all my dogs are my pets first and foremost. My puppies are house raised and receive the best food and care…
