Our Breeding Practices

Behaviour and socialisation

Our puppies are raised in our family home so they are subject to the usual household noises including the coffee machine and TV! Once old enough to go outside, our babies get to explore our property and meet the horses (safely of course!) with us, friends and family. We also love to venture out to bunnings, kmart…

Health

We are very strong believers in bettering the health and wellbeing of any breed, our focus though is on brachy breeds, specifically bulldogs. Our health focused breeding journey started when we found out that we weren't doing enough for our babies or our breed to ensure that they had quality of life early on and…

Canine Multifocal Retinopathy (CMR) is a genetic disorder causing local detachment of the retina in young dogs. It does not always cause impaired vision or blindness but can in severe cases. There are three types of CMR affecting different breeds. A DNA test is available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

Hyperuricosuria (HUU) is a genetic disease that causes a build-up of uric acid in the urine, predisposing to painful bladder and kidney stones. It can occur in a range of breeds. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

stethoscope iconPhysical Test

A heart certificate indicates that a breeding dog has been screened for heart disease such as DCM or MMVD. Auscultation alone is only accepted as a screening method if performed by a veterinary cardiologist or a GP vet certifying an OFA Basic Cardiac Screen.
