Our Breeding Practices

Behaviour and socialisation

Our puppies are born and raised in our family home, with our young son and teenage daughter, who want to shower our puppies in constant love and attention! We endeavour to help them develop independent personalities and expose them to everyday life on the farm, such as horses, cattle, cats and other dogs.

Health

Healthy sound parents are paramount. All of our dachshunds are DNA tested for genetic diseases. They are fed a premium raw & grain free dry kibble diet. Our puppies are wormed every two weeks and receive their first vet assessment and vaccination at 6 weeks.

Home environment

Puppies are raised in our home on our 100 acre property and we wouldn't have it any other way! Our puppies have their own purpose-built area that gives them room to grow and play in the best possible environment.

dna iconGenetic Test

Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.

dna iconGenetic Test

Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.

dna iconGenetic Test

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.

Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD) is a genetic disease causing a stiff gait, exercise intolerance and difficulty swallowing in young Miniature Dachshunds. There is now a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

About the Breeder

A little about us

I instantly fell in love with the breed after our first dachshund arrived and knew I could never have just one!

Why we got involved in breeding

I have always been involved in breeding from cattle, horses to kelpies. Dachshunds are such characters and I couldn't resist but to develop a breeding program with this wonderful breed.
