Canine Elliptocytosis is a rare genetic disease causing the red blood cells to be abnormally elliptical in shape, rather than round. It generally does not cause a clinical problem to affected dogs, but puppies may be mildly anaemic and smaller than others. There is a DNA test available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

dna iconGenetic Test

Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.

Neonatal Encephalopathy (NE) is a brain disease that can occur in Standard Poodle puppies. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

dna iconGenetic Test

Von Willebrand’s Disease (VWD/vWD) is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by a lack of a specific clotting factor. There are three forms of the disease, types 1, 2 & 3. A DNA test is available for each type of VWD to identify whether a breeding dog is a carrier or might be affected. The severity of VWD varies widely between breeds and individuals, ranging from life threatening, through to having no impact on clotting ability.

About the Breeder

A little about us

Renee and Josh started McLaren Poodles and Groodles in 2018, they are a small breeder of Groodles located on a 45 acre property in the McLaren Vale wine region. Renee and Josh have grown up on farms where they developed their love for many animals and had to have a farm of their own. Josh’s family bred cows, goats,…

Why we got involved in breeding

They developed their love for Poodles through Renee’s parents and having the pleasure of owning a standard poodle, their loving nature, intelligence, non-shedding coat and dedication to their owner makes them like a little human. They researched Groodles after meeting one and thought they were the best companion! …

Applying for a puppy

Apply for a puppy by answering a few questions so Renee can get to know you.
A$4,500

For you to become a part of the MP&G Wolf pack we require you to complete the RightPaw application, please also provide your email address either via application or message. Applying will place you on our MP&G email distribution list so you get firsthand info on upcoming litters. As you fill out this application, please, understand we want the very best for our pups. We care deeply about who we share them with and take it upon ourselves to ensure we home the right pup with the perfect family. Our pups are for family homes only, if you have any intention of breeding our pups please do not apply. If you would like to meet us, we are happy to do FaceTime so you can see our furbabies and ask all those goofy Groodle questions to make sure you’re happy with us being your preferred breeder. FaceTimes are scheduled once pregnancy is confirmed by ultrasound. You will be contacted via email to secure your position for the next available litter or we can help work out which litter will be best suited to you. We ask for a Holding deposit $100 which will be deducted from the total purchase, it is transferable to any litter with no expiry date and is non-refundable. Puppy selection day is at 6 weeks of age after pups have had their vet check. Families are invited to meet and choose their puppy. We ask for $500 deposit to secure your chosen pup, this will be deducted from the total purchase. When the deposit is paid, you are committing to purchasing your puppy from the current litter and there will be no refund. We take no ‘priority waiting list’ deposit and if a family is unable to decide on the day of puppy selection there will be no holds and you may miss out on a puppy. In advance we will organise times with families to come and collect their fur baby once pups are/over 8 weeks of age. The balance is then paid a week prior to collection or by arrangement to pay cash on the day of pick up. If a family is chosen for a litter and unforeseen circumstances occur with the expected litter the family will be placed on the next available waiting list or will refund the holding deposit. No refund will be given if the family changes their mind. We keep our families up to date and encourage you to reach out to us at any point to help you along the way.
