Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
Our puppies are socialised with all of our dogs of varying ages and sizes. Any time we have visitors, we ensure the puppies are handled in a way that builds their confidence in meeting new people. They are exposed to the outside world at an appropriate age and are used to farm animals walking past the house yard…
Health
All our breeding dogs are DNA tested for heritable Miniature Schnauzer diseases, both by Orivet (Aus) and Embark (US), and we don't support inbreeding practices. We breed and keep our females and source our males externally. We have developed an extensive 'family tree' database that allows us to research the…
Home environment
We live on a beautiful farm in SE Qld and have made the choice to not use any chemicals in our yard or on our farm. We commit to a high level of training for our adult dogs so they can come out on day trips with us, to enjoy outings like any family dog should. We have a fully fenced and vermin (snake) proof house…
Included with our puppies
Our puppy pack is aimed at being of most practical use for our families. It contains a book called The Forever Dog, written by a holistic vet, our 19 page puppy information book, the puppy's health record and a scented toy. The puppy also goes with a high quality Blackdog Wear training collar and a tag engraved…

Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a heart disease causing an enlarged heart with stretched heart muscle. Affected dogs are high risk of developing life-threatening heart failure as the abnormal heart cannot beat as effectively. There is a genetic test in some breeds to show if a breeding dog is predisposed to DCM.
Genetic Test
This is a genetic disease that affects a variety of breeds. It causes a blood clotting problem resulting in excessive bleeding. There is a DNA test available to ensure a breeding dog will not pass this condition on their puppies.
Genetic Test
Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (MDS) is a condition where a male animal, with normal male genitalia, also possesses a uterus and fallopian tubes. This is caused by an error in development of the reproductive tract in early embryonic development. The condition is often discovered by accident during abdominal surgery. There is a DNA test available to identify if a dog is carrying this condition.
Genetic Test
Myotonia Hereditaria/Congenita is a genetic disease that causes muscle problems resulting in a stiff gait and difficulty swallowing. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.
