Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), also known as ‘Choroidal Hypoplasia’ (CH), is a genetic disease affecting the retina. It varies in severity but can cause blindness. The gene responsible has been found in many Collie breeds, so breeders should provide an eye certificate, or blood test the parent dogs to check they are not carriers.

dna iconGenetic Test

This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

dna iconGenetic Test

Hereditary Cataracts (HC) is a genetic form of cataracts. There is a DNA test available in some breeds to indicated whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

dna iconGenetic Test

Hyperuricosuria (HUU) is a genetic disease that causes a build-up of uric acid in the urine, predisposing to painful bladder and kidney stones. It can occur in a range of breeds. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

dna iconGenetic Test

The MDR-1 gene (Multi-drug Resistance Gene 1) is responsible for producing proteins that protect the brain from harmful chemicals. Some breeds have a mutation in this gene resulting in them being dangerously sensitive to certain chemicals and drugs. It is recommended to test these breeding dogs for the MDR-1 mutation, so they do not pass on the sensitivity to their puppies.

dna iconGenetic Test

Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.

dna iconGenetic Test

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a type of genetic eye disease causing deterioration of the retina and eventually, blindness. There are a variety of sub-types of PRA, which can occur in various breeds. There are various DNA tests available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

We plan our litter and put out expressions of interest to ensure its viable to breed and that there is interest. With every Step of the process the interest list is updated. When Sky comes into heat we progesterone test every second day to ensure we mate at the optimal timing to increase the likelihood of pregnancy. Four weeks after Mating, Sky has an ultrasound to hopefully confirm pregnancy. (Generally at about 2 week we see signs of pregnancy and can tell but confirmation is at 4 weeks) At nine weeks, approx. 63 Days, puppies are born. We have a beautiful comfortable whelping set up with all the comforts. Our early nuero stimulation starts from day 1. I am there during the birth and assist were needed. We intend to birth at home, however if intervention such as c-section is needed we have our vet on call and ready. Puppies are carefully handled daily, where I check them from weigh them and check them tail to nose and everywhere in between, looking to ensure they are thriving and growing and checking for any changes. At this stage I also get puppies used to being handled and through gentle touch start desensitising them to ensure they grow with confidence and ready for groomers, vet and loving family cuddles when they’re older. I create a private litter page and invite prospective families to join. I select only the same number of families as per the number of puppies and allocate based on male or female preference. Families can follow the full journey. I update daily and spam with puppy photos, video and lives so that you feel connection and can follow them from through all their firsts. Puppies are wormed as per manufacturer’s instructions, every 2 weeks with dosage based on their weight. At approx. 4-5 weeks old I will invite intended families from the private litter group to our home to view and if they choose to continue and wish to commit to a puppy at this point they can select their new family member and secure with a $450 deposit. Visits are done through a booking system to ensure it is as fair as possible in the order of puppies being selected. Puppies continue to grow and progress with our desensitisation and socialisation program ensuring puppies are exposed to lots of sounds, touch, textures and experiences. At 6 weeks old, our vet comes to the house to do complete puppy health check, first immunisation and microchipping. At 8 weeks old Puppies are ready to go to their new homes. Final payment of $4500 must be paid before pick up so that I can prepare the microchip ownership transfers and intro insurance paperwork. All puppies leave with a goodie bag including starter food, 5 week introductory pet insurance a comfort toy and goodies all in a personalised tote bag. If you are interested in potentially joining our pack and taking one of our fluffy babies into your home, please complete the below and share al little info on the home you would be able to provide. Feel Free to check out our Facebook page to see previous litters and their upbringing for an idea on what we provide.
