Hi, I'm Claire N.

Our Breeding Practices

Behaviour and socialisation

I raise my puppies following Puppy Culture protocols, which includes crate and lead training and include basic agility and lure coursing. I will gradually and safely introduce them to the older dogs and once vaccinated, I have friends who bring over their children to visit, handle and help socialise them.

Health

I DNA screen all my breeding dogs through UC Davies for PRA, Glaucoma and PCAG, as well as patella check. I feed a predominately raw diet of local butcher-sourced chicken, wings and neck, beef mince, bones, veggies, sardines, yoghurt, eggs, as well as super premium kibble including Ivory Coat, Advance, Black Hawk on…

Home environment

Puppies are raised in house and we have a dedicated whelping room off the main parts of the household. They get the run of the kitchen and lounge once they are big enough to move, and will be exposed to the usual household noises of the TV etc to help desensitise them. Our adult dogs are kept in kennels outside…

Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI), also known as Familial Enamel Hypoplasia (FEH), is a genetic disease causing the abnormal development of tooth enamel. Affected dogs will have small, widely spaced teeth with brown discolouration and a strange texture. Whilst this is not a life-threatening condition the teeth can be painful.

dna iconGenetic Test

Primary Closed Angle Glaucoma (PCAG) is a genetic cause of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye). Untreated glaucoma can result in eye pain and blindness. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this genetic cause of glaucoma.

dna iconGenetic Test

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a type of genetic eye disease causing deterioration of the retina and eventually, blindness. There are a variety of sub-types of PRA, which can occur in various breeds. There are various DNA tests available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

About the Breeder

A little about us

I’m Claire, a longstanding ANKC breeder and life member of Dogs NSW. I do obedience, agility and lure coursing being the only registered judge in Australia who has an Italian Greyhound. I’m also a dog groomer in my spare time.

Why we got involved in breeding

I have started showing and racing Greyhounds and Italian Greyhounds, and with my involvement in the clubs, naturally took to breeding to continue the champion pedigrees that I have had since 1988.

Our special touch

I’m big on breeding for temperament and confirmation and ethos throughout has always been quality before quantity - I will refuse to breed for demand. Even though I can breed all colours, our Italian Greyhounds are not bred for colour.
