Our Breeding Practices
Behaviour and socialisation
We raise our pups in our home where they are exposed to all sorts of sounds and experiences inside like babies crying, kids yelling and playing, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, Television, rain of the roof, music playing etc along with lots outside on farm experiences and sounds like cars, motorbikes, mower, tractor…
Health
All of our dogs undergo full DNA profiling and health checks before pairing. Our goal is to raise healthy, well rounded family pets for their new families to enjoy for years to come. They are wormed every two weeks and are vaccinated and microchipped at 6 weeks of age.
Home environment
Our dogs are much loved members of the family. They are housed indoors in crates of a night and can freely experiences all indoor and outdoor activities during the day. We have a dedicated whelping room for mums and pups inside which is easy to temperature control.

Genetic Test
Mucopolysaccharidosis is a genetic lysosomal storage disease that can cause various problems including stunted growth and bone deformities. There are a few different variants of this disease that have been identified in different breeds. For many breeds there are DNA tests available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying the condition.

Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) is a neurodegenerative disorder found in many breeds of dog. 7 varieties have been identified so far, affecting different breeds. There are DNA tests for each type, to identify whether a breeding dog might be carrying this condition.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as ‘brittle bone disease’, is an inherited disease in both humans and animals, causing bone fragility and fracturing. As it is a genetic disease, breeding parents can be tested to ensure it is not passed onto their puppies.

Why we got involved in breeding
Our first dachshund absolutely stole and hearts and is the main reason behind Treanor Dachshunds. The love of a dachshund really is like no other and we think it is something so special that we wanted to be able to improve and share this beautiful breed with others so they too could have a best mate to love for years…
Our special touch
We offer lifetime support for our puppies new families. When they leave for their new homes the will have started toilet training, crate training and will be well socialised.
